A pin that walks out mid-pull is a pin that isn’t holding anything. Vibration, road shock and repeated loading are what work steel pins loose. The lock ring is the cheapest part on the hitch, and the one that keeps the rest of it together.

Installation
On in seconds. Off when you want it.
Seat the pin
Set the Ditch Hitch steel pin fully home and check that the retaining hole is clear of dirt and packed mud.
Hook the ring
Feed the lock ring through the pin hole and roll it around until it sits flush against the pin body.
Check before you pull
Confirm the ring is closed and holding on every pin. Replace any ring that is deformed, spread open or missing.

The Ditch Hitch is engineered and tested as a complete unit. Substituting components with hardware it wasn’t designed around changes how the system behaves under load, and shifts responsibility for that change onto whoever made it.

Before you order
How many rings come in a bag?
Ten. One order of SKU DHLR-01 is a bag of 10 rings at $20.00, which works out to $2.00 per ring and covers a re-kit plus spares.
What are the rings made of?
High-quality stainless steel, chosen so the rings keep working in wet, muddy and salted conditions rather than corroding into a part you have to cut off.
What does kick-out design mean?
The ring is shaped to be pushed on and popped off by hand while still gripping the pin firmly once seated. Quick installation and easy removal, without giving up a vibration-resistant hold.
When should a lock ring be replaced?
Any time it is spread open, bent, visibly worn or will not sit flush against the pin. A ring that no longer closes properly is not retaining anything. Inspect them as part of your pre-job checks.
